Tabatha Petersen has been a massage therapist since 1996, with 30 years of hands-on
clinical experience in neuromuscular therapy, sports therapy,
orthopedic injury, and functional pain relief.
Her career began in Canada at the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy,
where her early clinical work focused heavily
on injury rehabilitation. After moving to the United States, she founded
Naples Massage & Neuromuscular in Southwest Florida,
building what began as a single treatment room into a highly regarded
multi-practitioner practice she operated for more than 25 years.
EXPERIENCE AT EVERY LEVEL
Sports have been a significant part of Tabatha’s career. She has worked with athletes preparing for the
NFL Combine, professional NFL and MLB players, and Olympic-level athletes,
experience that deepened her understanding of movement,
repetitive stress, injury, and recovery.
But most people are not professional athletes.
They are golfers, runners, and pickleball players. They are recovering from surgery,
sitting at a computer all week, gardening on the weekend, chasing kids or grandkids,
or simply trying to move through life without something hurting.
Bodies do not have to belong to professional athletes to deserve skilled care.
A DIFFERENT WAY OF LOOKING AT PAIN
Tabatha became an Active Release Techniques practitioner in 2007.
Her clinical background also includes neuromuscular therapy, sports massage,
orthopedic and repetitive strain injuries,
post-surgical recovery and functional movement assessment.
Thirty years of treating complicated cases have shaped a simple philosophy:
Where something hurts matters, but it does not always tell the entire story.
A painful shoulder may involve the neck or the way the shoulder blade moves.
Hip pain may have contributions from the low back or pelvis.
Tingling in a hand deserves more investigation than simply massaging the hand.
What hurts? What changed? What makes it worse?
And most importantly, why?
WOODS EDGE NORTH CAROLINA
After more than 25 years at Naples Massage & Neuromuscular,
Tabatha created Woods Edge Therapy
around a principle she had come to value enormously:
Experience matters.
Now licensed in North Carolina, she is bringing Woods Edge to the
Chapel Hill and Carrboro area with the same approach that has guided
her work since 1996: skilled hands, strong clinical reasoning, honest communication,
and care designed around the individual.
Thirty years later, she still treats clients herself.
And they are all still worth figuring out.
